Freelance Basic Skills Tutor Wanted

BANG is a social enterprise based in the London Borough of Brent that aims to address youth social exclusion through training, development & broadcast. BANG primarily provides young people with training in music & media, as well as a medium to express themselves through its own radio station, BANG Radio 103.6FM. BANG has established an excellent reputation, helping hundreds of young people to achieve their full potential, and has achieved significant success, being awarded a 10 year community radio licence by Ofcom in March 2006. In November 2008 BANG Radio was awarded The Nations & Regions Award (London Branch) for Best Local Radio Station 2008.

We offer both accredited and non-accredited training courses, which can be delivered over a day, a week or a term. Our courses are accredited by City & Guilds, the Open College Network (OCN) and the Oxford, Cambridge and RSA Examinations Board (OCR). Training is usually delivered at one of our well equipped premises. Learning activities are innovative and enjoyable, and are tailored to suit different user groups or funding outputs.

We are currently looking for a basic skills tutor to deliver sessions on our B Logic Programme (for young people 14-19 / At Risk or NEET) and add to our pool of tutors.

With experience of teaching across a range of levels, you will have the ability to deploy a variety of teaching and learning strategies and to develop schemes of work, assignments and resources. You should be able to set targets appropriately and to deliver differentiation for groups of learners.

A commitment to equal opportunities practice and the implementation of Quality Assurance procedures is essential. Applicants should possess a Level 4 teaching qualification and relevant subject specialism. Familiarity with current curriculum developments within the Skills for Life Agenda is required.

With experience of working with young people who would be considered NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training), who have extensive/multiple needs in their personal lives you will have the ability to support teaching staff in our learning environment and motivate young people to achieve higher academically or personally.

We are currently looking for a Training Coordinator to coordinate delivery on our B Logic Programme (for young people 14-19 / At Risk or NEET) and add to our pool of training staff.

With experience of working with young people who would be considered NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training), you will be responsible for recruitment, coordinating much of the delivery of the project and collating all the monitoring information the project requires. Knowledge and experience of LSC/ESF contract delivery would be desirable.

We are currently looking for a part time Connexions Intensive PA to provide ongoing support, signposting, information, advice and guidance to the young people that use our training services.

Applicants should have experience of working with young people who would be considered NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training), working in small to medium sized voluntary and/or public sector organisations and possess the interpersonal skills required to develop a rapport with young people.

Applicants should possess a NVQ Level 4 LDSS (Learning Development & Support Services) qualification or be willing to work towards this. A commitment to equal opportunities practice and the implementation of Quality Assurance procedures is essential.
