Icecream & Mafiella. The two real sisters from northweezee(North-West London), started their rap career in Jan 2010,
Having previously come to Skrillz expressing how much they wanted to get in a studio and lay a track down, with a track that they had recorded in another studio.
Initially Icecream & Mafiella only wanted to record 1 track, but the vibe that was in the studio that night inspired them to write more lyrics, along with the positive feed back from the listeners/viewers, local dj’s & other artists.
Their unique sounds and representation for female UK rappers only lead to more tracks coming together and naturally forming
1up Empire.

D’Prouducer, A known producer in and around London for his versatility.
Having worked with many artists such Roll Deep, Eurogang, J2K, Musical Mob, Naf Skrilla, and many more.
Being a producer and owning a studio, he became the focal point for the three artists he had using his studio at the time.
Amazed by the talent he had in front of him he started to take extra time out to work with Skrillz, Icecream & Mafiella on a closer level. Providing them with unique sounds and instruments u hear in the music he produces.

LISTEN AGAIN: Tribal Man joins DJ Policy on this weeks Tuesday Top-Up 7-9pm

tribzEast London has proven to be a shining platform for some of the UK’s most talented music artists. Newcomer Tribal Man Magz, having already made his mark this year, is set to do it big in 2010. As the creator of the big dance hit ‘Tribal Man Skank’, Magz, along with other UK artists, heralded the arrival of funky house in the mainstream. His song was labeled as ‘the UK’s version of Soulja Boy’s ‘Crank That’ and the dance has been viewed by thousands worldwide on Youtube alone.

With his passion for recording new material daily, Magz is ready to attract audiences from other genres, through his experiments with different styles of music, to establish his own unique sound. Along with his varied musical influences from Dizzee Rascal, Kanye West, Mary J Blige, Michael Jackson and Sway, Magz has plans to set himself apart from the crowd.
Discovering his passion for music was no shock, seeing as he is the nephew of infamous Ghanaian music star, Daddy Lumba. Coming from such as rich musical background, it was only a matter of time before Magz picked up the mic.
Initially starting off in the grime scene, his interest initially began in 2004, when he heard the likes of Tinchy Stryder, D Double E and Griminal in his own school playground. Then known as Magma Man, his time within the underground music game helped pave the path to success, as he paid dues on pirate radio stations such as Axe FM, Flava FM and digital station Urbantingz.com. At the time, most of his buzz was being generated via the establishment of his music label, Down & Dirty. Magma and his collective released a track titled ‘Prepare to Rewind’, earning Down & Dirty the titles of ‘Best Up & Coming’ for the Urban Fusion Awards and ‘Best Newcomer’ for the British African Music Awards in 2008.
From grime to funky, Magma to Magz, the release of the ‘Tribal Man Skank’ dance tutorial was the turning point in his career. The song and dance was released February. By March 2009 everyone knew all the words and steps. The song is still receiving continuous plays by every UK funky DJ and is amongst the top three ‘Skank’ songs along with KIG’s ‘Head, Shoulders, Kneez and Toez, and Gracious K’s ‘Migraine Skank’.

Don’t miss Lioness on the Tuesday Top-up from 7pm on BANG 103.6FM

lioness-pic2For the past six years, there has been a pulsing simmer, a feverish anticipation that only comes with something truly spectacular. Like the rare sighting of a mythical creature before it disappears. For those that don’t know, with South East London’s MC Lioness, this has been the case.

Lioness has been teasing fans with appearances on Radio stations such as Radio 1, Kiss FM and 1xtra. Her feature in 2009 on Funky House tune of the year “Are You Gonna Bang” and her two storming F64’s filmed by SB.TV has only made anticipation for a full body of work grow.

Now with her newly released free downloadable Mixtape Loch Ness Monster, she has proven the anticipation has not been in vain.

The Loch Ness is a myth no more.

Boya and Saskilla together played their part in the development of underground garage music into what we know today as grime. Both burst onto the scene in a big way in 2002 by featuring on the critically acclaimed Lord of The Decks 2 DVD. Where their unique style and witty lyrics caught the ears of a grime nation which quickly cemented them as major contenders in the game. After undergoing some serious ground work within the industry by liaising with several big wigs in the game and both undertaking a work experience spell with SONY BMG records, the pair joined New Brand Flex in the summer of 2004 along with fellow mic controller: Likle-P and subsequently began to carve a bigger niche for themselves in this business we call music.

nu-brand-flexxx-1-mainPerforming on stage at near enough every major outdoor festival throughout the year, Luton Carnival, Anti Racist Festival as well Victoria Park Festival, which was an invite from Lady Sovereign, were all blessed with the groups vocals. More and more tracks soon began to be recorded with collaborations all through out the grime scene and beyond. The group have worked with such artists as Lethal B, Wiley, Lady Sovereign, Essentials, FLIRTA D and SLK just to name a few. More lyrics were written and more radio sets were being attended and a very substantial fanbase soon began to emerge from the hours that were put into development. Tracks are distributed through an independent sales team or via the world wide web. Striver joined the camp in 2003 and was the mastermind behind rising star Chanels first hit single, ‘Dreamin’ which featured our very own Saskilla and the ever ostentatious Mr WONG. The track reached 8 in the Channel U Charts. Striver also produced the ‘G..sh’ by Da Hour track, which somewhat speaks for itself. Likle-P and Saskilla later released ‘Wussy Phat’l, a creative, comical jibe at that common adversary we have all come to know as HATERS!. The video received over 88,000 views on the RWG-MAG website. With very strong upcoming releases, videos and a short film looming the air, the boys are definitely moving from strength to strength. With a very positive attitude toward their music and a creative infectious styles, we look set to be struck with many more hits!
