Sheryl asks: What’s race got to do with it? - On this weeks Sheryl Nwosu Talks, Wednesday 9pm

On this weeks ‘Sheryl Nwosu Talks…’ host Sheryl Nwosu talks RACE and asks ‘What’s Race got to do with it?’
Super model Claudia Schiffer was recently at the centre of a race row and was accused of racial insensitivity after a picture of her made up as a black woman and wearing an afro was used to front the 60th anniversary issue of German magazine Stern Fotografie. According to some commentators the picture was offensive to black women and “in poor taste”.
Shevelle Rhule Fashion and Beauty Editor at Pride magazine commented “clearly no thought has been given to the history behind what they have done and the comparisons it draws with minstrel shows”.
Were you offended by the picture?
Do you think it drew any parallels to the Black and White Minstrel monstrosities or do you think it was merely art and or fashion?
Sheryl asks: Do you think that black people are far too quick to draw the race card?

Also on this weeks ‘Sheryl Nwosu Talks…’ Sheryl will be discussing the return of Big Brother.
Yes it’s back for its 11th and final series; will you miss it or are you glad to see the back of it? Do you feel that black people have been fairly represented or portrayed well in the past? Or do you think they are too quick to cast extreme stereotypical characters?

Finally singer Chris Brown has had his visa application refused by the home office because of his criminal record of Assault upon Rhianna…the Home Office stated that public safety is one of their primary concerns and that they reserve the right to refuse entry to the UK to anyone convicted of a serious criminal offence.
Do you think the decision was a fair one?
Also what’s been your topic of the week? If its on your mind this show will give it an airing!!
As ever when ‘Sheryl Talks’ she hopes the world will make it a date and stop and listen so tune in Wednesday from 9pm to 10pm on Bang 103.6 fm or online www.bangradio.fm and get your ears, Blackberrys, i-phones and views at the ready.

LISTEN AGAIN - To Confess or Not to Confess!! - On Sheryl Nwosu Talks Wednesday June 2nd- 9pm

June 2, 2010 by Cassandra
Filed under Features, Listen Again, Sheryl Nwosu

On this Wednesday’s ‘Sheryl Nwosu Talks’ host Sheryl Nwosu will be asking the question: To Confess or Not to Confess!!

For all of you who have yet to see Sex And The City 2 you have missed in the storyline what has to go down as one of the most random acts of personal sabotage a woman is likely to commit in her life!

The scenario is this: married woman goes on holiday with her friends and whilst away bumps in to an old flame. A suggestion for dinner, leads to a cosy dinner date, drinks and a walk home….when married girl and ex-boy (who’s also married btw) kiss!!

It means nothing it stops before it really starts and they both part feeling embarrassed and knowing it was the wrong and with nooooooo intention of ever doing it again.

Question: If this were you would you confess to your partner/spouse at home?

What would you be hoping to gain by confessing? Do you think HONESTY IS ALWAYS THE BEST POLICY or do you believe WHAT YOU DONT KNOW WON’T HURT YOU?

Would you want to be confessed to? Would you rather you partner hurt you with the truth or protected you with a lie…or at least just silence?!

Would you end or potentially jeopardise your relationship on the strength of ONE KISS??!

As ever when ‘Sheryl Talks’ she hopes the world will make it a date and stop and listen so tune in Wednesday from 9pm to 10pm on Bang 103.6 fm or online www.bangradio.fm and get your ears, Blackberrys, i-phones and views at the ready.

This week on The Sheryl Nwosu Show - Children and the Law

May 25, 2010 by Cassandra

Don’t miss The Sheryl Nwosu Show this Wednesday 9pm, when Sheryl will be discussing children and the law…

With questions being asked about whether such young children should go through the justice system, do you think that the two boys now aged 10 and 11 convicted of attempted rape of an 8 year old should ever have been charged with the sexual offence of rape in the first place?
Given that the age of criminal responsibility in England is 10 years old and that the boys were both 10 at the time of the offence with the victim only 8 years old – Was this just an innocent childish game that went too far or went wrong or was this really a serious crime that needed to be treated as such?
Do you believe the boys, prepubescent children, ought to be required as they are now to sign on the Sex Offenders Register?
What sort of sentence do you think would be appropriate in this case – Do they want locking up or do they clearly need counselling after all they have been through including the trial?
Also on this weeks show Sheryl poses the question as to whether you think the courts system are failing to get tough on crime?
With latest figures showing that only one in five young people convicted of carrying a knife receive an immediate custodial sentence do you think the courts are going soft on youngsters?

LISTEN AGAIN - Sheryl discusses PROJECT PREVENTION on the Business and Politics Show - Wednesday 19th May

Don’t miss the Business and Politics Show with Sheryl Nwosu, every Wednesday at 9pm on BANG 103.6FM

Tune into this weeks Business and Politics Show when Sheryl will be asking whether Project Prevention where drug addicted women in America are paid to be sterilised to ensure that they can’t have children they can’t later look after is a step too far.

We all know that drugs are a scourge on modern society; addicts are often stuck in a vicious circle of crime, abuse, addiction and illness. Dealers make money from those same addicts and families and communities are ruined in the process. Children can be born addicted to drugs used by their mothers and Social Services currently struggle to find appropriate care and homes for many children removed from drug addicted parents.
Project Prevention is a non-profit making organisation based in the USA which offers and gives drug addicts $300 to be sterilised. So far Project Prevention which started in 1997 says it has paid money out to 3,242 addicts. Most of them were women and 1,226 were permanently sterilised. Thirty-five men have had vasectomies….They are now on their way to the UK to offer drug addicted women £200 to undergo sterilisation.
Do you see this as a sensible social policy to stop children being born into drug abusive households and exposed to drugs, crime and possible abuse or neglect?
Or do you think that such a scheme is wrong, and amounts to sinister social engineering?
Also on the show host Sheryl Nwosu will be asking whether in any circumstances doctors should have the right to tell you how many children you can or should have?
In our currently growing and already overcrowded population should limits be placed on the number of children you can or should have? Remember the public disdain over American Nadya Suleyman a.k.a Octomum. She already had 6 children when she gave birth to 8 babies (Octuplets) at a time when she was single and apparently living off the state.
Should there be limits placed on the amount of kids a woman should have depending on her circumstances or is it the woman’s right to chose?

Tune into the business and Politics Show Wednesday from 9 pm and join in the debate.
Its Business, its Politics but it’s a whole lot more!
