Jalil Saheeb aka Jayess grew up in East London and discovered his gift as a rapper at the age of 14, he began making tapes in his front room with his brothers and child hood friend Dylan aka Dizzee Rascal, free-styling over instrumentals. Jalil then moved from Bow Boys secondary school to Langdon Park where he took on board music and began composing his own music.
After finishing secondary school Jalil attend Leyton Sixth Form College and met a few guys who rapped, quickly forming a rap group called The Artillery Squad. Jalil linked up with his cousin Aggi Dukes who had a record label called Flatline Records, and later formed a band and performed everywhere from the Jazz Cafe to the MOBO unsigned finals in 2003.
After five years of rapping in the secular industry, JayEss became a Christian and initially quit music altogether later on in his new found faith he felt led to use this gift of rap to spread a positive message through music.
Two years on, he has gained a reputation as one of the most powerful and significant lyricists on the UK scene, a spokesperson to his generation and beyond.
JayEss has shared the stage with DA T.R.U.T.H. Lecrae, Canton Jones, Flame, Jamelia, Iceberg slim and Dizzee Rascal.

Catch Faith Child on The Gospel Showcase this Sunday

Faith Child joins the Gospel Showcase duo this Sunday 9am - 11 on BANG 103.6FM
With over 10 years of experience in the industry and accolades involving the MOBO Awards, Channel AKA smash hits, and touring with American artists, any normal artist would gracefully accept the title of ‘veteran’…However we aren’t talking about any artist here, we are talking about ‘Faith Child’.
Faith Child is the mastermind behind ‘IllumiNATION’, the fastest selling debut album in UK Gospel (2009). His debut album which features MOBO award winners Victizzle and Jahaziel, UMA award winner Guvna B, the highly rated American musician Terrell King, in addition to the legendary Hillsongs, flew off the shelves in the week it was released, and this is a highlight to a fantastic year which included him opening for Fred Hammond, Kirk Franklin and Marvin Sapp.
Humbly accepting the fruits of his labour are clearly exceptional, Faith Child points to Romans 10:17. ‘Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God’. Faith Child, who’s talented artistry can only be described as God given uses the word of God to positively inspire and empower all who listen. His ministry is more pointed towards the youth of today, saved and unsaved, bringing hope and an alternative to life which is Christ.
One could easily mistake Faith Child for just another rapper but in fact this is quite the contrary. A devout member of the RCCG Church in Croydon, Faith is more than a rapper…he is a born performer. A skilful drummer, a versatile MC as well as having a humorous disposition ensure his music is creative and innovative. Not to mention his skills in other areas of performing arts which include drama, dance and mime. His performing arts group ‘Trans4maz’ are a testament to this.
Further reiterating that his selfless aim is to spread love andpeace along with the word of God, he collaborates and shares his talents with many people. His dedicated mission has resulted in massive tours with the likes of Cross Movements singer, songwriter and producer J.R. He has also been on the road and shared stages with Helen Baylor, The Ambassador, Lecrae, Eternal Excellence, Guvna B, Jahaziel, Simply Andy, Four Kornerz and more. Historic venues such as the Excel Exhibition Centre, Fairfield Halls, Hackney Empire and Catford Broadway theatre have experienced such tours and the Redemption Camp in Nigeria with a capacity of over 4 million.
With his stage presence proven, packing out the famous ULU venue for his album launch and producing an amazing show for fans, it would be understandable if he wasn’t as prolific recording wise. Surprisingly he is just as inspirational. He appeared on 2007 MOBO award winners G Force’s album ‘Destroy and Rebuild’. He also featured on the first Christian garage music video to hit mainstream television ‘Bibles Bibles’. This song was a ‘Channel AKA’ smash hit.
Raised in the church, his faith as a child stood out and propelled him above his peers. At only 20 years of age he has shown that faith as small as a mustard seed can see you achieve that which God has birthed within you.
