Top 5 Dont’s of Carnival

August 27, 2009 by Lauren

It’s nearly here! With a few days to go, Carnival is just around the corner!

bang

So you’ve noticed we look a little different? That’s right - we at BANG have taken the Carnival Spirit to a new level.

Wear your colours and  party hard as we take you by the hand and lead you through the crowded streets of Notting Hill, providing the soundtrack for the UK’s biggest streetparty!

BANG will be broadcasting live from the heart of Carnival at the Tabernacle, make sure you keep it locked to hear the on-air treats we have in store. Excited? So are we!

So, as BANG Radio gets you jumping and shaking in the lead up to Carnival it’s only right that we remind you of some Carnival rules!

We love fun, but we party responsibly… so revellers take note as we run down the top 5 DON’Ts of Carnival!

5. Ladies, DO NOT wear heels!

Comfortable footwear is a must; during this two-day street party you are likely to do a lot of walking, dancing and standing, so leave the stilettos at home. Same goes for the guys, your brand new creps will start to rub your feet after a few hours, and somebody will only end up stepping on them anyway (you know you don’t want them to get dirty…)

4. Leave your bling at home!

As with any crowded place, your valuables are likely to be a hot target for teefs! So travel light – no excessive jewellery, credit cards or any other precious belongings on your person. You know it makes sense.

3.  Over-exposure

Ok, so it’s Carnival time, you’re excited, the weather is good (fingers crossed!) and those yellow spandex batty-riders are looking appealing. Think twice! There is nothing wrong with showing a bit of skin in the sunshine, but no x-rated outfits! Think of the children!

2. Don’t overdo the drink!

Pace yourselves…. however hydration is a must (if the weather is hot - fingers crossed!) so keep the water and fruit juice flowing.

1. Bad attitudes? No thank you. We came out to have fun!

This one is self explanatory – Carnival is a fun time for all, so come with a good attitude, bring your whistles and horns and let’s party!

Those were some DON’Ts, but make sure you DO keep it locked to Carnival Vibes this Saturday 2-4pm for the final pre-Carnival shakedown! Sugar K and Castro will be ushering in the Carnival weekend with the best soca and calypso vibes, so DON’T miss it!
