Yo yo yo!!
It’s been a little while since I’ve blogged but that’s because so much has happened this past month Actually, to be honest, I have fallen in love, with…another pair of trainers!!
So all my spare time has been spent with them - no, I’m only joking! Although how FIT are these…!
I wonder if Blaze could grow me a pair - he’s got a magical trainer tree, didn’t you know? (check out his blog).
Back to business though; Drum and Bass.
If you’ve been tuning in the past 2 weeks, you would have heard the man they call Devill working his magic on the decks.
You’ll know Devill from Caztro’s show, he drops the D&B flavours every Friday night 7-9, and Saturday 4 - 6pm…he’s been very very busy, but it was a previlege to be joined by him, and we’ve had a lot of fun!
Dev is a local, born and bred in NW10, representin the talent we have here right on our doorstep, and if you’ve missed the last two shows, it is only right to give you a chance to listen again, because trust me, he has skills on the decks!
Droppin some of my favourite tunes…did you hear Dillinja’s ‘Who You’ and Drumsound & Bassline Smith’s ‘Can You Feel It’? Whilst also covering all genres of D&B - last night he did a reggae Drums mix, and the week before he dropped a dedication mix to Clips and Fresh…both shows have been sick sick sickkk!! Pure audio delights!
Deville and I will be back next week, as we do each and every Wednesday night (12-2am) - I know it’s a school night, but you’ve got to stay up for a mid-week rave! So make sure you don’t miss out and lock on!
Poni on MySpaceSelection
My myspace.com selection feature main aim is to bring you the freshest talent from in and around the UK.
On Saturday 23rd May 2009 was no exception (a nice hot day……. may I add) as the Bang office was heated up with the presence of UK Hip Hop female artist PONI!!!!!!!!
Having missed our last interview a few weeks back, due to a backlog on the dreaded A406, Poni was keen to let the listeners of Bang Radio know all about her debut album ‘Whip It’ which is out right now.
The album is a must for all Hip-Hop/RnB lovers and also blurs the lines of Bashment/Reggae with songs like ‘Pop It’.
This London city girl has worked with some of the finest hit making Hip-Hop producers including amongst many others Grammy Award Winner Denaun ‘Kon Artis’ Porter of D12 who produced tracks on Poni’s debut album.
Not just happy enough to settle for just music; Poni has flirted with TV and featured on the Channel 4 music series called ‘Musicool’ (Part 1 & 2) and the BBC3 music series called ‘Singing With The Enemy.
Make sure you check out Poni’s myspace page at WWW.MYSPACE.COM/ONEPONI

Hello to all you BANGtastic people out there! My name’s Ed and I have just started as the new Production Assistant at BANG Radio. For the next few months many of the adverts, jingles, show promos and vox pops (snippets of people talking) are going to be produced by me! If you’ve been tuning into the station recently you may have already heard some of these (I produced the Lee Jasper and Lady TT promos – hopefully they have stuck in the mind like they’re supposed to!). I will be lovingly crafting each piece of audio that you hear on BANG Radio - hopefully my work will be music to your ears and not grate like nails down a blackboard!
As well as keeping you updated with all the happenings at BANG Radio, one of the purposes of this blog is to give advice to budding radio producers and give them an idea of the type of work production involves. For anyone who wants to work in this area of radio then you need to get experience. It’s a bit of a cliché but hospital or student radio stations really are the best places to start as you can try out and practice your craft. It doesn’t matter how lame you think you think your work sounds to begin with, everyone has to start somewhere (trust me, I know, I’ve produced adverts for hospital information services – yawn! My ads did not sound great…). It’s daunting at first but radio is such a fun area to be working in that you will have forgotten how scared you were by the time you’ve made your first 30 second ad! So get out there and get practicing!
With any luck (and provided I don’t get too carried away promo making!) this blog will be updated twice a month to inform you all of my BANG shenanigans. I’ll also be letting you know what I’m finding hot in the music world (at the moment it’s Soulja Boy Tell’em – Kiss You Thru The Phone – once that beat gets in your head it doesn’t leave for days! Big fan of anything produced by RedOne, Danja, or Timbaland too). My first 3 weeks have so far involved mistaking professional singer Rocini Mae for a BANG Radio volunteer, having an on-air birthday bash for Bang’s 2nd birthday and also receiving career advice from a Global director. If the rest of my time here is as entertaining as its been so far then you have much to look forward to!
Top 3 records of the moment:
- Soulja Boy Tell’em – Kiss You Thru The Phone
- Cassie feat. Akon – Let’s Get Crazy
- Sean Kingston – Fire Burning
