Mornin all!
A very excitable Tamara here, and it was my first day actually controlling the desk! You might not have noticed the difference since there’s no webcam, but I moved from my producer seat to desk driver seat. One of the many things I love about BANG, you get the chance to learn and develop so many skills, I couldn’t imagine even a week ago that I could be driving the desk.
We kept it moving with some great tracks, particularly a household favourite the “Migrane Skank”… notice how every track includes the word “skank” these days! Hope you were all skanking at home and loving the beats.
We announced that Anthony Hamilton will be right here at BANG Radio HQ tomorrow night, Wednesday 1st April on The JumpOff with D’Nyce between 7pm-9pm (Seriously - this isn’t an April Fool)!
Make sure you listen in to this exclusive interview with the Grammy award winning superstar, and if you’re lucky enough, you could even win yourself tickets to see him live at the Indigo2 this Thursday 2nd April! Tickets are still available online for the show for those of you who aren’t so lucky to be winners. Go to www.theindigo2.co.uk for more details!
Catch you tomorrow for an exclusive giveaway… you got to listen to find out what!

Mornin all!
Tamara and “Tee Bizzle” (name for the week!) tucked into a huge dose of entertainment news, gossip, daily headlines and of course UK PRESSURE! We opened the show by giving you tracks from three British male talents, Young Nate, Taio Cruz and Lemar.
How was your weekend? Did you get tripped up with the clocks going back? Did you check out the Vitality Show? The Images of Black women Festival? The Trey Songz and J holliday Concert? If you DID and didn’t get the chance to take part in the show today we’d still love to hear from you; you can post a comment at the end of this blog and let us know and give you shout outs during the show!
One headline that stood out was www.affluence.org, which has been dubbed “Facebook for the filthy rich” - listen in to find out what it is and hear the likes and dislikes about Facebook! Alongside this was talk of Shilpa Shetty being in talks to join the cast of Eastenders, listen to hear more!
Jennifer Hudson… we salute you! Who else was there to salute? Listen in and keep listening this week for more salutations to our favourite celebs, near and far!
The Princess and the Frog, featuring Disney’s first African-American princess (voiced by Anika Noni Rose from Dreamgirls and ‘The Ladies No.1 Detective Agency’ fame) has been publicly saluted by Mel B, who also believes the film should have been made ages ago! Hear what Mel had to say about the controversy around Princess Tiana’s Caucasian prince, and the resulting news about mixed-race Britain.
The debate continues tomorrow!
On Yer Bike… NOT!

Hello, hello!
So I know last week I was bigging up the new show I’ve been broadcast assisting on – ‘Reinforced’ with DJ Virus (Wednesdays 12am -2am… if you didn’t already know, but I’m guessing you do as I’m sure you locked on!) and I promised that I’d let you know how I got on… that’s still coming – I’ve got something special planned for next weeks’ Blog!
But this week, I need to deal with a very important matter and I could do with your help, yes I’m getting SERIOUS, actually the word is DESPERATE…. this weekend, I am a very lucky lady and will be going away to Amsterdam, BUT we all know what happens in Amsterdam, don’t we??
Amsterdam is well famous for…. BICYCLES!!!! and I don’t know how to ride one . Yup, start bussing jokes, that I’m 23 and still can’t ride a bike – I’ve had it from everyone; friends, family, even little kids laughing at me when I was ‘trying’ to ride one last weekend at the park.
No matter how dedicated to the cause I’ve been (practising once!), so far, I’ve had no such luck and terrified when someone lets go of the handlebars. I ended up bashing into several walls, trees and people last weekend, not fun at all! So what am I going to do? Any suggestions? The thought of getting back on the bike that is currently residing in my corridor at home and waiting for me to use, scares me to death…
I don’t want more accidents ,and actually I think my ‘riding’ is more of a danger to everyone else, I can’t be doing this to the good people of Brent!
Help wanted please… only 3 days before I go and the last thing I want is to be riding around Amsterdam on a tandem – that would be even more embarrassing!

Referred to as a ‘funny guy’ and most certainly one of the top black comedians on the UK comedy circuit - take a moment to familiarise yourself with Rudi Lickwood.
Rudi Lickwood is no stranger to the industry having been part of it for several years, and he is by no means your average stand up comedian.
Rudi prides himself as a key member of the black community with the drive to constantly strive to alter the way the community is viewed by others.
2008 was a massive year for Rudi
He featured in 2 projects, 1 being Get Me a Producer which was aired on channel 4. This particular project focused on a team of producers battling to come up with some sort of comedy pilot show using Rudi as the focal point of the show.
In the early part of 2008, Rudi acted as a judge on the BBC1 programme, Funny Business which was a comedy talent show that aimed to find comedians from all over Wales.
Throughout the year, Rudi was up to something every single month. From being involved in the BBC Top Gear Warm Up for Comic Relief in March through to the DVD Launch of Big Man Issues in September, Rudi just about find time to breath much less get married.
In August, Rudi tied the knot after performing 168 gigs in 212 days since 1st January. Following his marriage, appearances and shows continued to dominate Rudi’s life and to put the icing on the cake, Rudi was credited as one of the top 100 Black Britons in October.
On top of this, Rudi even found time to tour Afghanistan, Bosnia and Iraq to give the troops some jokes too! So as you can see, Mr Lickwood is one busy, funny guy!
Check into Subject:Blu the Chat Show on Tuesday 31st March 2009 one day before April 1st and get your fill. Rudi will be live in the studio with Sherryl Blu, so listen in and see what makes funny, fun!

To the Soul-D-Out family

Hey Soul-D-Out family it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything about the soul vibes in London. Wow, there’s a lot going on in the next few months I can’t wait.
We’ve already had one of the leading lights in soul music… Musiq Soulchild! It was the first time I met him and he came over as quite reserved initially, but then after feeling really at home he started to loosen up. I’m loving the Mohican and goat-tee look he’s rockin’ at the mo, rather tasty! He passed through Soul-D-Out Monday along with our competition winners Sian George & Debbie Brayne for a very intimate interview.
.
We also have the arrival of MY artist Anthony Hamilton and Brian McKnight whah…. I’m gonna be soooo spoilt, someone is hearing my prayers.
Here’s some other news…..
In February (20th) I held the 1st birthday of my bi-monthly event which is a night of live uncut raw soul music designed specifically to showcase and promote the outstanding talents of independent home-grown UK & international neo-soul, RnB & jazz artists to the UK underground and mainstream. The line-up was ridiculous… Imaani, Elisabeth Troy, Adelaide Mackenzie & Fola the night was electric and Elisabeth literally set the place on fire…. we had cake too, nice!
Here’s a review posted by one of the many journalist’s that passed through that night
There was only one place soul fans should have been on Friday 20 Feb night and that was The Cobden Club in Ladbroke Grove. The event: Soul-D-Out, a night – founded and hosted by D-Nyce of Rampage - that brings to the forefront the unique talents of some of the UK’s finest soul artists. To celebrate their first anniversary, D-Nyce enlisted the help of singers Fola, Elisabeth Troy, Imaani (Incognito) and Adelaide McKenzie. All four songstresses took to the stage showcasing vocal and lyrical skills that would put other UK artists to shame! Source: www.CatchAVibe.co.uk by Natalie Ambersley
First up on stage was Fola, who warmed up the crowd with a selection of tracks taken from her debut album ‘folathemusic’, which also included a perfectly sung rendition of Prince’s all time classic hit Purple Rain.
By the time Adelaide McKenzie, a Soul-D-Out regular, took to the stage, everyone was up on their feet. Performing tracks from her forthcoming album Daily Progress, McKenzie gave a passionate performance, embracing the crowd, and at one point even calling for people to join her in singing!
Elisabeth Troy effortlessly kept the vibe alive, lifting the pace with tracks including Midas Touch and classic garage anthem Crazy Love which stormed the garage charts back in 2000.
Imaani, of Incognito fame was the last artist to grace the microphone. She gave a powerful performance of Resolution, a track taken from her new album out later this year. Imaani wowed the crowd as she ended with a heartfelt rendition of the classic Ray Charles hit Rainy Night in Georgia.
As the night drew to a close, everyone danced out to rare groove and classic soul tracks from back in the day played by DJ Maurice. Soul-D-Out definitely deserves the tag ‘live’ music session
The next Soul-D-Out is scheduled for Friday 17th April 09
A bi-monthly evening of live uncut raw soul music designed specifically to showcase and promote the outstanding talents of independent home-grown UK & international neo-soul, RnB & jazz artists to the UK underground and mainstream. We are back for April 09, with a NEW resident artist Teish O’day, one of the UK’s finest vocalists. This event will also be the ONLY performance of singing/ song writing duo Indigo Brown for 2009 so it promises to be big! we also have the amazingly talented David Mensah & rising star Brit school attendee Brooke Bailey.

My Session with Tor
March 28, 2009 by AJ King
Filed under AJ King, BANG Radio News
OK, so way back in January I was supposed to have a certain MC join me on the Saturday Breakfast show, but she flopped me. I was on my way home feeling dejected and I got a call from the studio saying that she just turned up.
Never one to say never, I made a swift u-turn and arrived to find her in the midst of a tea making session. Eager to get things rolling, I passed on the liquid refreshment, and we set up shop in Studio 2 for what was to be a very memorable session.
The artist in question was Tor Cesay, an MC who’s flow I called “vicious”. If you’ve not yet had the opportunity to find out why, watch these two videos of our encounter and leave a comment to let me know what you think.
Till then,
AJ aka Blaze
